Suggestion/Idea Information:
Suggestion: Using a bar code scanner for supplies and inventory would tighten up the process not only for accounting, but for procurement as well. EVERY department that uses supplies, dorms, admin, maintenance, dietary etc. can benefit from running a tighter ship. Supplies are tagged upon arrival & scanned for distribution.
Implementation Considerations: Setting up bar coding program on every institution to start. Training warehouse, maintenance and procurement staff regarding par levels and inventory spot checks. Ordering will be more precise and usages will be tracked better to monitor peaks and valleys of usage/waste.
